Marriage is a partnership, not a fairytale - Linda and me - Bird Youmans

Today's Video I haven't written in a few days.  Life gets in the way at times.  I got to enjoy some Daughter and great grandsons and granddaughter time.  And then some emergency time unfortunately.  But it is all life and like a river, it continues to roll and we roll with it, like it or not. Today as promised, I am writing about Linda and me.  To all the young people out there may I start with this.  Marriage is a partnership, not a fairytale.  If you get the partnership right, the fairytale will follow.  Linda is almost 70 and I'm 77 and our love for each other has grown over the years because our respect for each other has grown.  Linda and I both had earlier marriages that did not work out, but thankfully we have good relationships with our ex's.  That is important and I'm thankful for that.  So there is hope for second chances!   Most partnerships have ups and downs, good times and bad times.  But successful partnerships learn to navigate and negotiate the rapi

What I'm now doing with the little studio - Bird Youmans - Blog 4

Today's Video So now I finished the new little studio in July 2019. Blog 3 tells you about it if you haven't already read it.  It took another couple of months to move all the gear I needed from the studio in Covington and get set up.  But once I did, what a neat little set up.  Since the projects I do now are basically a one man situation, it does not require the larger facility I moved from.  I basically set up the recording gear in the front half of the room in a large U shape such that my mixer and monitors along with the computer monitor are in front of me and my keyboards are on one side and my machines are on the other.  Tho I use a computer with a digital work station in it to record the tracks, I still mix down to a dedicated CD burner/mastering machine and that way the minute I get it into the machine I can then sequence the songs in whatever order I want them in to burn a master CD.  I also have duplicating machines that I can make copies with on that side as well.

Building my smaller studio in the mountains of NC - Bird Youmans - Blog 3

Today's Video After I "retired", I started spending most of my time at the Mountain Cabin and was enjoying some time off and remodeling the cabin while making some woodworking vids for my new wood channel.  I still had my larger studio The Bird's Nest in Covington GA but was finding it harder to get back there to do any projects and really was trying to not have to go back there too much anyway since I love these mountains.  Linda was still heavy into her real estate company and she would join me on week ends and I would occasionally go back to the "flatlands" for whatever.  This was around 2010 ish.   This sort of went on for the next 5 years or so and that's when I discovered the music channel was doing something without me doing anything to promote it and it was those primitive vids that people were watching.  Almost embarrassingly primitive by that time.  So that prompted me to think about using my new equipment and software to make a serious attempt

How I started doing music videos on youtube - Bird Youmans - Blog 2

Todays Video is the one that started it all! I spent yesterday learning a bit about this blog interface and introducing myself, so today I thought I'd tell you how I came to do youtube videos.  Those that have been watching the livestream videos have heard me tell the story here and there, but not everyone who watches the vids have seen every episode therefore you may not know so here goes. I put up some videos on youtube back in youtube's infancy so to speak in 2006.  The vids were crude by today's standards because of the limitations of the internet back then and high speed internet was only available to a limited few.  Life got in the way and I forgot about those first few videos because I was still traveling and performing until about 2010.  My memory was starting to play tricks on me and I decided to retire from the road and just concentrate on some limited studio work since I had opened The Bird's Nest Recording Studio back in 1988 and still had it.   But I also h

Here's my latest video Hi Everyone, Just a bit of introduction.  At 77 I have done a ton of traveling in my life playing and singing for people.  I started out as the son of a Preacher Man, became a rock and roller, played country, blues, rock you name it until the late 90's when I came full circle and made my way back home and I now do old time Gospel Music and it's the joy of my life.  I decided to start a blog just to tell some stories from the past, pass down things I've learned that may help younger folks navigate the rapids of life or even older folks just wanting to hear how a music man made it to 77 lol!  I may well pontificate on some spiritual things or even some politics if I feel the need.   I have several youtube channels, but the main two have to do with my music.  The main channel, BirdYoumans, has all the Music Videos that I have created mostly of my Gospel Music for youtube. Just click here to visit that channel and subscribe if you like: Bird Youmans T
