Spirituality and a belief in the Divine

It's been a while since my last post, but the other day I heard someone say that spirituality and belief in the Divine were invented precisely for the purpose of manipulating the populace. And there is a kernel of truth to what they said, but let's not throw out the baby with the bath water.
Because of the way religion has been used to manipulate I can understand why they might not understand it's value to some. We all live in our own reality, whether perceived or real. It took me many years to understand that. Each person's "reality" is as unique as their fingerprints. ALL of us believe some things that are real and some that are not. It is quite hard to get at the truth often times because of propaganda and those that would control us. Each of us believes our way of "perceiving" it is correct, or we would not see it that way.
And then, there are leaders and there are followers. The charlatan politicians and religious leaders quite well know that you can fool some of the people all of the time thereby helping form their reality and gaining their vote or adding them to the flock. Please understand tho that not all politicians or religious leaders are bad. But when a con man can convince the mark that anything that will expose him/her is not true, then the mark will always be the mark. It's easier to fool someone than to convince them they have been fooled and so, many people believe many different things, each one thinking theirs is the true reality. Then comes the spirit world.
Spirits are not ghosts. They are states of being so to speak. There can be a spirit of happiness that we have or a spirit of kindness or a spirit of hate and so forth. These are not real beings per se, but they are powerful none the less and the manipulators know how to stir them in the populace or electorate as it were. But this is a deep well so it's not surprising that many will not understand this and of them are born sheep.
My simple message is this, it's better for us to spread kindness than hate. After that, the manipulators would have a hard time controlling us. Again, this is hard for some to understand. The manipulators motto: Keep 'em scared, angry and misinformed.
